Very good read about a suppressed period of history. In Badasses, Peter Richmond chronicles the treacheries, debauchery, and yes, the winning, with appropriate literary gusto. Kohlmann is making cardinal mistakes starting from names of the places, and people (even ex Croat president for God's sake), to the flipping geographical positions of numerous places in the book. I must say I was a bit frustrated that we didn't learn the full story of what happened to his nephew. People go to church and the pastor is a minor character, but religious themes are absent, and that would seem to be a loss. He also repeated the same descriptors of people and the issue over and over throughout the book instead of one great one somewhere early.
