I found a previously unknown family whaler in this book and discovered more whaling relatives within it's pages. He was a Marshall on leave from a small town in Iowa and a good tracker so the story revolves around how he regains his sons respect and loyalty having not seen them since the Civil War. I didn't think that this book would be able to beat the first in the series but boy was I wrong. Fully developed details with incredibly eerie depictions, draws the reader into the story line specifically. Very accurate science (for what was known when it was written)The bad:descriptively, kinda dry. And the man can write any genre he so chooses. Caution however, this story tells of torture and abuse of children, so for the squeamish at heart you are for warned. These 2 meet back up and the sparks are flying. And the Best Buy as of 4/15/18 is the 4 book set for $4. This first volume is not meant to cover everything about chainmailling nor does it include dozens of projects.
